Occupational Therapy For Children.

Occupational therapy is a client-centered health profession concerned with promoting health and well being through occupation.The primary goal of occupational therapy is to enable people to participate in the activities of everyday life , enhance their ability to engage in the occupations they want to, need to, or are expected to do, and/ or modifying the occupation or the environment to better support their occupational engagement. Occupational Therapists implement their assessments and interventions in and around the person, environment and the occupation itself.

Occupational therapy in pediatrics:

As far as a newborn is concerned, his/her “occupation” is Feeding on breast milk and exploring his/her surroundings. But babies who are premature And/or born with physical ailments may have incapability in some areas. Occupational Therapists help in making them maximum self-sufficient in his/her occupation. An Occupational therapist can help Children with neurodevelopmental disorders to overcome their developmental delay, day-to-day Activity limitation and thus make them as independent as possible with their condition.

To achieve their outcomes, occupational therapists utilize strategies based on sensory integration approach, play therapy, multicontextual training, ADL training etc.
