Behavior Therapy

Behavior Therapy For Children.

Behavioral therapy is a term used to describe a broad range of techniques used to change maladaptive behaviors. The goal is to reinforce desirable behaviors and eliminate unwanted ones.

Behavioral therapy is rooted in the principles of behaviorism, a school of thought focused on the idea that we learn from our environment.Behavioral therapy is action-based. Because of this, behavioral therapy tends to be highly focused. The behavior itself is the problem and the goal is to teach people new behaviors to minimize or eliminate the issue. This therapy can include parent training in behavior management, behavior therapy with children and behavioral interventions in the classroom.

A behavioral therapist is a psychologist who helps children with psychological troubles ranging from depression and alcoholism to schizophrenia and autism. As a behavioral therapist, you'll work with patients to understand the difficulties, debilitating behaviors, and negative thought patterns they want to change. You'll also devise problem-solving methods, like psychotherapy, counseling, and homework assignments, to improve a child's quality of life.
